Ngātiwai stand on the shore but we reside on the water
On Saturday the 20th of August 6am at Mimiwhangata a Pou whenua will be erected by Ngātiwai to protest and signal their dissatisfaction regarding the Government’s possible marine legislation on Mimiwhangata.
In consultation with kaumātua o Ngātiwai, this kaupapa has been set by Te Whanau Whero, Tiakitai, Te Uri o Hikihiki, Ngati Rehua ki Whananaki and Ngātiwai.
The Ngātiwai Trust Board is proud to tautoko this action led by hapū and whanau and we will be supporting the day by various means.
The program is as follows:
6am:
Pou whenua placement led by tohunga of Ngātiwai, followed with whakamoemiti led by Ministers of Ngātiwai
7am:
Kai will be served in the shed to remove all tapu.
