Summary of the Ngātiwai Trust Board Meeting of 25th August 2017

 

Director Appointment: – Brandon Edwards has been appointed as a Director of Ngātiwai Investment Holdings Limited.

Directorship Policy: – It was also agreed by Trustees that no further Directors would be appointed until the reviewed Directorship policy has been put in place.

Marae Reports:

Kawa: – With the recent unexpected tangi at Kawa we are arranging flights and travel for everyone.
Matapouri: – With the recent passing of our kaumātua the marae committee has not held any meetings out of respect for him. We are expecting to meet with the WDC regarding the erosion and maintenance of our beach blocks. Whānau are also planning a series of korowai making wānanga, all proceeds from the wānanga will be contributed back to the marae.
Motairehe: –
Ngaiotonga: – The marae meeting that was booked for last Friday was postponed.
Ngunguru: – The marae is working with schools at the moment, we are also looking to get a preventative maintenance plan together.
Otetao: – We are planning for the installation of a walkway around the marae, also all the new shower fittings have been installed.
Omaha: – The marae committee held a productive hui 2 weeks ago. We are also preparing for the Kiri whānau unveilings.
Pataua: – Due to the recent bad weather we have undertaken to complete the necessary repairs to the Pataua footbridge.
Punaruku: – We are awaiting the return of our committee secretary before we hold our next marae meeting, where we hope to discuss the location and marae build.
Tuparehuia: –
Whananaki: – Our fund raising efforts have been such a success that we can progress on to the second stage of the rebuild. We are applying for funding to be able to employ a Māori architectural Firm to complete the plans for us.

Sponsorship Applications: – Sponsorship applications were approved for Jasmine Milton who represented New Zealand whilst competing in the World Beach Volleyball Championships held in Brazil and Malakai Barber for representing New Zealand in the under 12s Basketball team competing in Australia.

NTB Operational Policies: – The CEO and Legal Advisor will look to preparing a number of compliance policies for the Board to review at its next meeting.

Te Kupenga Reo: – The Te Kupenga Reo Rōpu that traveled to Canada for the World Indigenous Education Conference provided a presentation regarding their experience.

Tourism Scoping Assessment: – A funding proposal with MBIE to fund a tourism scoping assessment will be prepared by the Trust Board.

Trustee Honorarium Policy: – The Board will seek an independent review of its Trustee Honorarium policy.
