On Tuesday the 19th of December our Ngātiwai Kaumātua embarked on a very special trip to Tawhiti Rahi / Aorangi (The Poor Knights). This was a Christmas celebration and a coming together for our Kaumātua to kōrero and enjoy spending time together. There was also another kaupapa of this trip where the Ngātiwai Kahui Kaumātua gave support, in principle, for an important project – “Mana Moana O Ngātiwai”, which is a research framework that supports the reinstatement of Ngātiwai Cultural stewardship of our foreshore islands and seascape. This was truly a special day for our Kaumātua. Mauri Ora!!
